    Kinesio® Taping Method Express Course

     

    The 20-hour Express Course in Kinesio Taping® will present all the concepts and techniques of Kinesio Taping® in an expedited course format.  The first day will present an overview of the development of the Kinesio Taping® Method, fundamental concepts, assessments and screening tests, and begin to introduce Kinesio Correction taping techniques.  After completing fundamental concepts the course will move into advanced techniques and clinical reasoning.  Attendees will problem solve complex clinical cases requiring the application of multiple Kinesio Taping® techniques.  Lab sessions will provide time to practice assessments and screenings, plus applying techniques to a variety of upper and lower body conditions.  Instructors will provide personalized feedback to each attendee to insure a thorough grasp of the taping concepts and techniques.  Upon completion of the course attendees will be able to discuss and apply the Kinesio Taping® Method to a variety of muscular, orthopedic and neurological conditions.

     

    Course Outcomes:
    • Identify and list three indications, four precautions and four contraindications for applying tape for multiple conditions. (Cognitive Domain)
    • Identify the six major physiological systems that are affected by tape. (Cognitive Domain)
    • As a novice taper, design an individualized treatment program from acute through the rehabilitation stages using tape as a modality. (Cognitive Domain)
    • Demonstrate the basic understanding and competence in manual direction assessments (tissue and muscle) and six screening assessments (Psychomotor Domain)
    • Demonstrate basic competence throughout the two-day course within 27 labs. (Psychomotor Domain)
    • Demonstrate basic competency by passing a practical exam at the end of day two (Psychomotor Domain)
    • Appreciate the rationale for altering tension below 50% tension and I, Y and web cuts of tape to vary stimulus necessary for therapeutic benefit of tape (Affective Domain)
    • Appreciate the different stimulation from cut and tension using the Kinesio Taping® Method (Affective Domain)
    • Appreciate the differences in properties for five different manufacturer’s tapes per research review (Affective Domain)
    • Demonstrate increased understanding of pretense for taping as a modality by increasing number of correct answers on post-test as compared to pretest
